Fruits of Failure, is my celebration of the unintentional. Acknowledgment of epiphanies born from experiments not planned and unstructured. Some of the greatest discoveries in history were products of disaster, which came about when things went awry. Fruits of Failure speak to such incidents, those beautiful unintentional discoveries born from happy accidents.

I am a student at the College for Creative Studies, exploring the world of growth as an experimental art, born from necessity. I intend to investigate Gardening as a kinetic and evolving art form, continually growing and changing in response to environmental variances. In this, our injured urban setting, Detroit, lay possibilities waiting to be awakened from dormancy after a lengthy winter’s chill. These are my accumulating records, in addition to contributions from my Professor, and the copious lovely individuals we encounter. Within a fifteen week semester we will meet with local Artists of all origins in the City, positively procuring growth in supposedly sterile Soil.

At College for Creative Studies we received Funding From a  generous donor, Dede Feldman to purse efforts in Urban Gardening and its relationship to art. Within an Independent study taught by local Artist and Teacher at the College for Creative Studies, Mira Burack. We are connecting with local gardeners, community gardens, artists and crafters who share an interest in bettering our city and exploring the connections and similarities between these fields. Our hopes are to create a community garden for the students at our college as an art form and way of connecting to the city in a sustainable and educational way.

The recordings of my learnings are expressed on these pages, from experiments in growth to tools and toys I created to encourage growth to my final, a metaphoric garden of exerimentation accompanied by a small book, a LInk-tionary documenting words I found prominent and relevent based on histories, etymologies and the products of my own experiments.
